We are finally getting back in the swing of things after our busy Christmas holidays. I thrive on routine, so I get so much more accomplished and feel so much better when our lives become at least a little bit more predictable. Of course, with 7 kids life is never really predictable!
This winter and spring our big project focus is going to be on fixing up our house. It doesn’t need any structural fixes, but we are trying to repaint many of the rooms and do some decorating. We’ve already made good progress on our mudroom (which is really just a hallway) and our entry way and main stairs. I’ll get some before and after photos posted soon.
We’re considering moving back to Texas, as soon as Jeremy can get his business in New York to a point where he can turn it over to staff members here. So that’s part of our new-found motivation for getting the house all prettified–so we can sell it. Well, at least for Jeremy, anyway. It makes me a little bit sad that we’ve waited to this point to really focus on decorating and making it look the way WE want it to look. Why do so many of us do this…get our homes all beautiful just to sell them, after living with them as-is for so long? Anyway, I’m glad we’re moving forward with painting and whatnot, whether we’re here for only another year or for ten.
We are also looking very seriously into some schooling changes, most notably putting our oldest 2 sons in some sort of online program. I have to admit it’s getting overwhelming trying to keep up with 4 different grades, and next year we’ll add another. So we’re going to test using an online program for a semester and see how it goes. If that’s not a good fit for us, we might even consider private school for high school. I’m a bit overwhelmed at the thought of paying for that, but we’ll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.
So 2013 might shape up to be a year of big changes for us. The adventure continues!
